Technology & Sports Drive

We recently visited a refugees’ apartment complex in Houston, and it felt like stepping into another country. The poverty was visible in the eyes of the children, mothers, and fathers. As we entered the playground, we saw dozens of kids—mostly Pashtoon Afghan refugees—chasing after one soccer ball. When the boy who owned the ball went home, the game stopped, and the kids gathered around us. At times, when these kids get bored, they resort to bullying or fighting with each other.

We spoke with some of the teenagers. One shared how much he missed Afghanistan, while another dreamed of becoming a doctor. A confident 17-year-old told us about his ambition to start a T-shirt business. His passion reminded me of an organization that donates PCs, and I realized I had an extra one at home, along with friends who likely had spare gadgets as well. We exchanged numbers, and I promised to help him out.

In the next two weeks, I’ll be giving away my own PC. But we can do so much more through our Technology & Sports Drive if we can gather more used laptops, tablets, PCs, and other gadgets to build relationships with these kids, offering them learning and growth opportunities. Your used technology or toys could shape the future of these children in powerful ways.

Here’s how you can help:

1- Technology Donation: If you have extra laptops, tablets, PCs, or other digital devices, check if they’re in working condition and have a charger. If you have friends and neighbors companies who wants to give away their gadgets.

2- Wrap it: Clean the device and reset it. If it’s missing a charger, try to get one so that it would be usable. If you can, pack it in a plastic bag or gift box (get creative!) and include instructions if needed.

3- Contact Us: Send your info on this WhatsApp to arrange a donation.

If you don’t have a gadget, you can still help by sponsoring sports items like soccer balls, cricket sets, scooters, bikes, or even car seats.

Your donation can provide entertainment, education, and inspiration to these children, giving them hope for a brighter future while giving our team the opportunity to share the love of God.
